Information on legal fees

I usually charge an hourly rate in the three-digit Euro range, the exact amount of which is a matter of negotiation.

I will be happy to provide you with an estimate of the costs in advance.

Conditionally. In various cases there is a claim for compensation against the opponent (in the event of success) or against your legal expenses insurance. I will be happy to submit a request for cover. However, as most legal expenses insurers use a different billing method, such an insurance claim for compensation may not always cover the costs, depending on the time spent and the amount in dispute. You should also bear in mind any deductibles you may have agreed with your legal expenses insurance. If your insurance does not pay, you as the client are liable for the costs.

Please note: Data protection law is rarely one of the areas of law covered by legal expenses insurance, so goodwill may be an option.

Unfortunately, no. Contingency fees are generally prohibited under the Lawyers‘ Fees Act.

A contingency fee also does not correspond to the lawyer’s workload. Just as a doctor (same type of contract) cannot guarantee that you will get well and otherwise works for free, even the best lawyer cannot seriously guarantee success. The success of a mandate also depends on many other factors, such as changes in the law and case law in the meantime or your cooperation in providing the necessary information.

I charge a monthly flat rate in the low three-digit euro range for the appointment of an external data protection officer. This already includes a certain amount of work. If this is exceeded, an hourly rate in the three-digit euro range in increments of one minute thereafter will be charged.

I will be happy to provide you with an estimate of the costs in advance, depending on the size of your company.
